The Brief

This leading retail bank wanted to support a major piece of staff training with an original and engaging incentive that could encourage colleagues across the country to strive to make quality mortgage referrals.

Goal

They wanted to create an urgency among colleagues to put new learning into practice as quickly as possible. The requirement was to launch a new colleague incentive that would support an increase in both breadth and depth of customer referrals for mortgage reviews.

What Was Done

With the support of the team at Red Letter Days, they designed and delivered an original staff incentive programme featuring our branded scratch cards. Each card revealed a random prize value which could be redeemed toward a gift or experience of the winner’s personal choosing. A supply was delivered to each region and was presented to staff for each and every successful mortgage referral they made, up until the supply was exhausted.

Result

“The incentive campaign helped to generate an unprecedented level of mortgage referrals. It cemented the learning from our staff training programme, and rewarded both colleagues who had not made referrals before, as well as encouraging established referrers to uplift their referral numbers. Their was a genuine staff ‘buzz’ about trying to help customers and therefore win scratch cards, and receiving these from their local mortgage adviser helped complete the feedback loop and strengthen colleague relationships. Staff feedback highlighted the flexibility of the prizes on offer, meaning there was genuinely something for everybody. Colleagues enjoyed the opportunity to pick up a small prize each time, or to ‘save up’ prizes toward a higher value experience.”
